Polysomnographic Technician (Per Diem)
Responsibilities
- Performs duties of a Sleep lab Technician and evaluates PSG and MSLT recordings.
- Generates computerized PSG report.
- Interprets raw data: score polysomnogram for sleep stages using standardized criteria, compute parameters to include sleep latency, sleep efficiency and percentage of sleep stages, analyze apneas and arousals (muscle and spontaneous).
- Determine heart rate ranges for waking and sleeping stages. Identify and quantify abnormalities in cardiac activity and respiration. Identify normal/abnormal patterns, artifacts and sleep/wake stages.
- Assist with marketing the sleep lab to the outside community and staff physicians.
- Provide information to the medical staff regarding test capabilities and requirements to increase medical staff knowledge of polysomnographic testing. Provide in-service education to sleep lab staff.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specification
- Vocational/technical training and a minimum of one year's job-related experience or equivalent is required.
- Registered Polysomnography technologist certification is also required.
Physical Environment
The job is also typically required to perform work through eye/hand/foot coordination most of a normal workday.
