About the role
A Polysomnographic Technician Trainee develops competency in and performs the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under the direct supervision of a Registered Sleep Technologist.
Responsibilities
- Works under the supervision of a registered sleep technologist/shift supervisor/and or program manager.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a STAR-designated Focused education program, A-STEP Self Study Program and passing the RPSGT exam is required within one year of hire.
- High school diploma or GED plus 6 months of direct patient care experience or 1 year of post-secondary education is required.
- Obtain/Maintain BCLS Certification required.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills desired.
- Appropriate social skills with emphasis on customer service skills is required.
- Demonstrate ability to follow direction.
Qualifications
- While performing the duties of this job, the technician is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
- The technician is required to walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasional lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess visual abilities for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
