Polysomnographic Tech, Non-Registered - Pediatric Sleep Lab

About the role

The Polysomnographic Technician Non-registered is employed by Erlanger Medical Center. The non-registered technician is directly supervised by medical or registered clinical staff to perform overnight polysomnograms, MSLT's and oximetries. The incumbent operates sophisticated medical equipment to record sleep/wake physiology. Under direct supervision, the technician develops skills and knowledge to perform complex and non-routine recordings.

Responsibilities

• Operates sophisticated medical equipment to record sleep/wake physiology
• Administers oxygen and positive airway pressure devices in accordance with established protocols
• Applies recording devices to the patient
• Performs cleaning and disinfecting of equipment
• Recognizes sleep pathology when it occurs and responds with appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for the age of the patient, with demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development
