Triple H Ann Arbor Hospital
Schedule: Contingent (Non-benefitted), Night Shift
Rate: $27.00+
Position Purpose
Counsels nocturnal polysomnograms, initiates nasal CPAP, conducts Multiple Sleep Latency Tests, and scores all types of ss performed.
Required Education, Experience And Certification/Licensure
- Requires high school diploma or GED;
Completed A-Step Program
Certification - Twelve to eighteen months of related experience preferred
Certification/Licensure: Requires board certification from the BRPT or ABSM.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Gathers materials and sets up all necessary equipment for the s to be performed.
Discusses s procedure with patient and answers any questions.
Instructs patient on the use of PAP therapy.
Prepares patient for s by applying appropriate electrodes and ancillary equipment to patient utilizing AASM standards.
Calibrates machines according to standard procedures and recalibrates as needed.
Maintains adequate stock levels of equipment and supplies. - Monitors patient during sing. Adjusts and trouble shoots equipment as necessary to ensure success of the s procedure.
Contacts physician if life-threatening or other emergency situations arise. - Scores polygraphic records and summarizes findings for physician review.
Cleans equipment as needed.
Contacts appropriate sources for necessary repair. - Absorbs 10 CEC's per year for sleep center accreditation.
May assist with interviews for new hire employees.
Affixes to scoring training and comparisons.
Affixes to monitoring and evaluating technical quality of procedures performed in the Sleep Center. - Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships.
Approaches conflict in a constructive manner.
Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to Trinity Health.
Required Skills And Abilities
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients when explaining sing and treatment procedures, and with physicians and other departmental personnel when gathering and exchanging patient- related information.
Analytical skills necessary to observe and evaluate patients during sing and treatments, and notify manager or physician in cases of emergency.
