About the role

A typical day for a Polysomnography Technician may include:

  • Providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment support for patients with sleep disorders in accordance with sleep center protocols.
  • Reviewing patient history and verifying medical orders prior to testing.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and integrating patient information to identify individual patient needs and ensure appropriate care.
  • Determining appropriate testing parameters and procedures in collaboration with the ordering physician, clinical director, and established laboratory protocols.
  • Performing diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies, including Polysomnograms (PSG), Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP titrations, and oxygen titrations.
  • Performing in-center and home sleep apnea testing as required.
  • Providing direct patient education and answering questions related to sleep procedures and testing.
  • Reviewing and evaluating sleep studies and providing appropriate feedback to staff.
  • Performing routine equipment care, maintenance, inspection, and inventory evaluation.
  • Assisting the Medical Director, Clinical Director, and/or Manager with various aspects of sleep center operations.
  • Following all sleep center policies, procedures, and safety protocols to ensure high-quality patient care and accurate testing.

  • You are comfortable working collaboratively with physicians, clinical leadership, and other members of the sleep center team.
  • You are organized, dependable, and able to properly maintain clinical equipment and supplies.
  • You enjoy contributing to a team environment and supporting the overall operations of a sleep center.

Requirements

  • Current New Jersey State License as a Polysomnographic Technologist and/or Respiratory Therapist.
  • At least one year of experience as a Sleep Technologist.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification.
  • Registration by the ABSM, BRPT, or NBRC. Certification by the ABSM, BRPT, or NBRC does not satisfy the New Jersey licensure requirement.
  • CCSH (Certification in Clinical Sleep Health) or qualification to obtain the CCSH is preferred.
