Job Summary
Berkeley County Government seeks new poll workers to staff precincts throughout the County. This role offers opportunities to serve the community, meet neighbors, and participate in the election process.
Essential Functions
- Processing voters
- Ballot distribution
- Activation of voting systems
- Ensuring compliance with election laws and procedures
- General assistance to voters
Compensation
- $60 for attending training
- $75 by the County
- $25 by the State
Minimum Requirements to Perform Work
- Be a registered voter, or at least 16 years of age
- Attend training and pass a certification course BEFORE each election
- Work the ENTIRE election day (6:00am until the last voter in line votes and precinct is cleaned)
- Be non-partisan and neutral when working (you cannot be an elected official or immediate family of any candidate)
Physical Demands
- Stand long periods of time
- Bend, stoop, have physical dexterity
- Lift approximately 40 pounds
Work Conditions
- All precinct sites vary by location and building
- You will be notified in advance which location site you will be working
- It is not guaranteed that you will work your home precinct, but we do our best to keep you as close as possible
