Qualifications

• Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification
• Valid Georgia driver’s license
• Active member of law enforcement
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully
• Strong listening and responsiveness to others’ needs
• Desire to work in a school environment with young people, educators, and citizens

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and citizens at extra-curricular activities by responding immediately to disruptions or criminal activity
• Instill in students respect and understanding of the law through example
• Assist school administration with security at extra-curricular activities
• Reduce juvenile delinquency by promoting positive relationships between youth and law enforcement
• Take law enforcement action as necessary to protect against unwanted intruders
• Perform all law enforcement duties in a highly professional manner consistent with established procedures and directives
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to sit for extended periods
• Required to talk, hear, stand, and walk
• May be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties
