Qualifications
- Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification
- Valid Georgia driver’s license
- Active member of law enforcement
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully
- Strong listening and responsiveness to others’ needs
- Desire to work in a school environment with young people, educators, and citizens
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and citizens at extra-curricular activities by responding immediately to disruptions or criminal activity
- Instill in students respect and understanding of the law through example
- Assist school administration with security at extra-curricular activities
- Reduce juvenile delinquency by promoting positive relationships between youth and law enforcement
- Take law enforcement action as necessary to protect against unwanted intruders
- Perform all law enforcement duties in a highly professional manner consistent with established procedures and directives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods
- Required to talk, hear, stand, and walk
- May be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties
