Pay

  • CalPERS 2.7% @ 55 (Classic Members) or CalPERS 2% @ 62 (New Members)
  • The employee pays the full employee portion of the retirement contribution.
  • The City does not participate in Social Security.

Benefits

  • Offset CalPERS Unfunded Accrued Liability costs through a pre-tax Employee CalPERS Response Giveback Plan.
  • Employee contributions are considered part of the CalPERS retirement system costs.

Medical Insurance

  • Cafeteria benefit allowance of $1,450 / month for health, dental, and vision plans.
  • Option to cash out allowance at 25% taxable income or deferred compensation.

Dental and Vision Insurance

  • City contribution is only for employee coverage.
  • Dependents may be covered at employee's expense.

Long Term Disability & Short Term Disability

  • Benefits equal 60% of employee's base salary for qualified periods.

Life Insurance

  • The City provides a life insurance policy in the amount of $100,000.

Sick Leave & Vacation

  • Accrued at 8 hours per month, with an unlimited accrual.
  • 100 hours of annual vacation accrual, increasing up to 200 hours based on years of service.

Holidays

  • 12 days annually plus 2 floating holidays.

Tuition Reimbursement & Annual Education Bonus

  • Tuition reimbursement available upon completion of probationary period.
  • Completion of a degree entitles employee to an annual bonus: AA: $225 / year, BA: $375 / year, MA: $525 / year, Ph.D.: $675 / year.

Background Investigation & Eligibility

  • Extensive background investigation and polygraph examination required.
  • Information includes criminal, credit, employment, and education history.
  • Interviews with family, friends, supervisors, co-workers, and neighbors.
  • Must be at least 21 years old at the time of application.
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License required.
  • Must be willing to provide requested information for background investigation.
