Police Officer - Lateral School Resource Officer - Mounds View

About the role

The Mounds View Police Department seeks a LATERAL School Resource Officer (SRO) to join their team. The SRO will primarily work in Mounds View’s elementary and middle schools, ensuring student and teacher safety, and fostering positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Ensure student and teacher safety in Mounds View’s elementary and middle schools
• Foster positive relationships between students, teachers, and staff
• Work Monday through Friday during the school year
• Receive an additional 2.75% of wages while designated and serving as an SRO

Requirements

• Lateral entry position
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license
• Current law enforcement certification
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends during the school year

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills
• Experience working with children and youth
• Background in education or related field preferred

Skills

• Effective problem-solving skills
• Ability to build rapport and trust with students, teachers, and staff
• Knowledge of school policies and procedures

Schedule
