About the role
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a large agency responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians. This position is based at Broughton Hospital and involves providing protection, enforcing laws, and serving as a liaison to other criminal justice agencies.
Responsibilities
- Provide security and observe activities in campus buildings and on grounds.
- Patrol areas to ensure traffic and parking compliance.
- Respond to and evaluate emergencies immediately.
- Enforce laws, investigate violations, and collect evidence.
- Control violent and disruptive behaviors.
- Transport legal status patients for off-campus appointments.
- Operate and maintain police vehicle and in-vehicle equipment.
- Manage traffic checkpoints and assist motorists.
- Conduct building/grounds security checks and respond to citizen complaints.
- Prepare grand jury packets and present evidence in court.
- Serve as liaison to other law enforcement agencies and community organizations.
- Initiate and participate in community events.
- Relay emergency information clearly and accurately.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to solve crimes.
- Mentor and role-model fellow and lower-level officers.
Qualifications
- Must complete all requirements for an NC Probationary Law Enforcement Certification within one year of employment.
- Must be at least 20 years old.
- Must possess a valid NC Driver's License.
