About the role

The Fremont Police Department is recruiting for the position of Police Officer (Entry Level, Academy Graduate, or Out-of-State Lateral). New Wage Increase Coming Soon! Effective July 12, 2026, Police Officers will be receiving a 3% salary increase, making now an excellent time to join our team.

Recruitment Process

  • Step 1: Apply - Applicants must attach a passing PELLETB or NTN score when applying. Scores that are within one year of the application date and that meet the minimum passing score will be accepted. Applicants can take and submit results for either of the two tests below.

  • NTN Law Enforcement Exam: Minimum passing score of 65% for video, 70% for reading and 70% for writing. Virtual and in-person options are available for NTN. A screenshot of your NTN scores must be attached to your application.

  • Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB): Minimum passing score of 49.

  • Step 2: Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ)

  • Step 3: Oral Board Interview

  • Step 4: Management Panel Interview

  • Step 5: Physical Agility Test (waived for academy graduates)

  • We accept WSTB results, which must be within one year of application date and meet the minimum passing score of 320.

  • Step 6: Polygraph

  • Step 7: Background

  • Step 8: Executive Panel Interview

  • Step 9: Conditional Offer (Final job offer is dependent on the Medical and Psychological evaluations)

Selection Process

The process may include individual and/or panel interviews, professional reference checks, fingerprint check for criminal history, pre-employment medical exam and other related components. Only those candidates who have the best combination of qualifications in relation to the requirements and duties of the position will continue in the selection process. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an invitation to participate in the process.

    Police Officer Academy Graduate: I have graduated from an Intensive California Basic POST Academy within one year of date of application (certificate must be attached to application), OR have been formerly employed as a Police Officer or Deputy Sheriff by a California law enforcement agency within one year of date of application.

  • 07 You MUST submit a screenshot of your results for the National Testing Network (NTN) Law Enforcement written exam or the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) with your application. Scores that are within one year from your application date, and meet our minimum pass points will be accepted. Our passing scores are as follows:
    PELLETB: T-score of 49 or higher
    NTN: 65% on the Video, 70% on the Reading, 70% on the Writing
    Applications will be disqualified if screenshot of your NTN results or PELLETB exam are not attached to your application.

  • 08 The Fremont Police Department Requires a Physical Agility Test As Part Of The Recruitment Process. WSTB Scores Of 320 Or Higher, Are Accepted But Must Be Dated Within One Year Of The Date Of Application. Select The Option That Applies To You
