About the role
The Rowlett Police Department is seeking a Certified Police Officer who must be TCOLE certified at the time of application.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and apprehends criminal violators
- Controls and maintains public order and safety
- Performs related duties as required
Requirements
- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certification required at the time of application
- Successful completion of a TCOLE Basic Course in Applied Police Science (Police Academy)
- Passing score on the TCOLE Peace Officer licensing exam
- Passing score as outlined by the City of Rowlett standards on physical assessment
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License
- Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett
- Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental designee within two working days of receipt
- Vision 20/20, correctable to 20/20
- Must pass a background investigation, psychological exam (if required under TCOLE standards), oral interview by Interviewing Board, physical exam, and physical assessment
- Must be able to work rotating shifts including weekends

- Lateral pay up to step 3 ($94,655.63) will be considered for those with qualifying experience

Schedule
The City of Rowlett offers a 4-day work week with standard business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., depending on departmental schedules.
