Police Officer (Certified Lateral)

About the role

The Fredericksburg Police Department is seeking a Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement Certified Police Officer. This position offers a starting salary range of $64,000 - $95,905 DOQ, full-time, 40 hours/week, with benefits.

Responsibilities

• Patrol City streets, River Bank, City Parks, and neighborhoods to deter crime
• Apprehend and/or arrest violators or suspects
• Respond to calls for law enforcement assistance
• Investigate traffic accidents and enforce traffic regulations
• Gather information for criminal investigations
• Assure appropriate custody and control of prisoners (attends court and mandatory off-duty details)

Requirements

• Current Virginia DCJS Certified officer with 3 years’ experience in law enforcement
• No more than two moving violations within the past 24 months
• No current or previous revocations of suspension of license within the past 60 months due to a moving violation
• Undergo a background investigation including fingerprint-based criminal history records inquiries to both the CCRE and FBI
• Undergo a physical examination, subsequent to a conditional offer of employment
• Pass a polygraph examination
• Complete a lawfit course
