About the role

The Town of Abingdon, Virginia Police Department is currently accepting applications for a police officer position in the patrol division.

Responsibilities

The most desirable applicant will:

• Be a United States citizen
• Be at least twenty-one years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Be in good physical condition
• Have vision correctable to 20/20
• Possess a valid Driver's License and a good driving record with a positive point balance

Requirements

• Starting Salary: $53,148.00 for uncertified applicants; certified officers will be DOE, with an excellent benefits package.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants currently possessing DCJS Law Enforcement Officer Certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Skills

Certified applicants may be required to undergo pre-employment, WorkSTEPS Functional Employment Testing.
