About the Role
Tooele City Police Department is seeking certifiable, lateral transfer, current POST cadets, or individuals with a confirmed start date for a POST academy to fill an opening and establish an eligibility roster for future openings within the department.
Our 45 police officers serve a community of 41,000 residents and responded to roughly 17,000 calls last year, making us a very busy department. Pay
- Police Officer I: $31.10 - $31.72 per hour
- Police Officer II: $34.09 - $36.17 per hour
- Corporal / Police Officer III: $40.43 - $50.26 per hour
Competitive pay includes year-for-year lateral credit for prior sworn law enforcement officer experience. A transparent salary schedule is available on the City's website, with HR ready to provide pay estimates.

Requirements
- Must be certifiable, a lateral transfer, currently in or scheduled to start a POST academy
- Subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing (positions are safety-sensitive and/or may require a CDL)
- Background checks, including criminal history, are required for applicants age 18 and older (criminal history is not an automatic disqualification)
- For positions requiring driving: valid Utah State Driver License (or ability to obtain prior to hire), 12 months of driving experience (excluding learner's permit time), and a driving record acceptable for Tooele City's insurance and risk management standards
