Responsibilities
- Uphold the law, protect citizens, and enforce regulations professionally and respectfully.
- Patrol assigned areas.
- Respond to emergencies.
- Investigate incidents.
- Provide assistance to those in need.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old.
- Possess a valid Colorado driver's license.
- Earn a High School Diploma or a General Education Development (GED) or high school equivalency certificate.
- Earn a Colorado P.O.S.T. Peace Officer's Certification.
- Commerce City will match pay with experience (excludes corrections, jail, or military police).
- Hiring Bonus: $7,500
Qualifications
- Prior law enforcement or military experience is preferred.
- Spanish language fluency or bilingual language skills, or American Sign Language skills are preferred.
- Postsecondary education, excluding law enforcement academy is preferred.

- Step B: $89,361.83
- Step C: $98,174.14
- Step D: $106,986.45

Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include:
- At least 21 years old.
- Possess a valid Colorado driver's license.
- Earn a High School Diploma or a General Education Development (GED) or high school equivalency certificate.
- Earn a Colorado P.O.S.T. Peace Officer's Certification.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS include:
- Prior law enforcement or military experience.
- Spanish language fluency or bilingual language skills, or American Sign Language skills.
- Postsecondary education, excluding law enforcement academy.
Disqualifications
- Applicant who has applied and has been dismissed from a Police Officer hiring process for the Commerce City Police Department within the last twelve (12) months.
- Applicant has a felony conviction.
- Applicant was Court Martialed for a crime that is the equivalent of a felony under state or federal law or received a Dishonorable or Less Than Honorable Discharge from the U.S. military.
- Applicant has a conviction for a crime that prevents applicant's ability to retain their Colorado P.O.S.T. certification as a peace officer.
- Applicant has legally or illegally possessed or consumed marijuana, or any of its derivatives in any form, in the last twelve (12) months.
- Applicant's driver's license has been revoked or suspended in the last twelve (12) months.
- Applicant's driver's license has been revoked or suspended two (2) or more times in the last five (5) years.
- Applicant has illegally sold, manufactured or distributed any controlled substance, prescription drug, steroid or marijuana, or any of its derivatives in any form, in the last ten (10) years.
- Applicant has a conviction or deferred judgment for an alcohol-related driving offense in the last five (5) years.
- Applicant has two (2) or more convictions or deferred judgments for an alcohol-related driving offense in the last seven (7) years.
- Applicant has had a conviction or deferred judgment for hit and run, or failure to remain at the scene of an accident in the last five (5) years.
