Responsibilities

• Upkeep and enforcement of laws and regulations
• Patrolling assigned areas
• Responding to emergencies

Requirements

• At least 21 years old
• Possess a valid Colorado driver's license
• Earned a High School Diploma or a General Education Development (GED) or high school equivalency certificate
• Earned a Colorado P.O.S.T. Peace Officer's Certification

Qualifications

• Prior law enforcement or military experience
• Spanish language fluency
• Bilingual language skills, or American Sign Language skills
• Postsecondary education, excluding law enforcement academy

Pay

• Step A: $80,549.52
• Step B: $89,361.83
• Step C: $98,174.14
• Step D: $106,986.45
• Step E: $115,798.76

Schedule

• Shift work that may include working days, nights, weekends and holidays, and working 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts
• Carrying a firearm and being prepared to deploy it when necessary, to include the application of lethal force

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 21 years old
• Possess a valid Colorado driver's license
• Earned a High School Diploma or a General Education Development (GED) or high school equivalency certificate
• Earned a Colorado P.O.S.T. Peace Officer's Certification

Disqualifications

• Has applied and has been dismissed from a Police Officer hiring process for the Commerce City Police Department within the last twelve (12) months
• Has a felony conviction
• Has a conviction for a crime that prevents applicant's ability to retain their Colorado P.O.S.T. certification as a peace officer
• Has legally or illegally possessed or consumed marijuana, or any of its derivatives in any form, in the last twelve (12) months
• Has a conviction or deferred judgment for an alcohol-related driving offense in the last five (5) years
• Has two (2) or more convictions or deferred judgments for an alcohol-related driving offense in the last seven (7) years
• Has had a conviction or deferred judgment for hit and run, or failure to remain at the scene of an accident in the last five (5) years
