Police Officer

Essential Functions

• Patrols assigned areas to maintain a visible police presence; searches for suspicious, hazardous, or criminal activity; conducts field interviews of suspected offenders; and makes arrests.
• Responds to emergency calls and routine complaints by receiving and responding to dispatch calls, responding to crimes in progress, and assisting Fire and EMS personnel during emergency situations.
• Performs traffic enforcement duties by monitoring vehicle speed, registration, defective equipment, and compliance with traffic laws; issuing citations and warnings; and documenting traffic enforcement statistics.
• Performs administrative duties by completing case reports, paperwork, and related documentation; reviewing reports for accuracy and completeness; and preparing reports and correspondence.
• Congducts traffic accident investigations by investigating collision scenes, obtaining statements from involved parties and witnesses, directing or controlling traffic as necessary, and completing and filing accident reports.

Minimum Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent;
• A Valid Peace Officer License from TCOLE or candidates in the final phase of the Police Officer Academy;
• A Valid Texas Driver's License.
