Police Officer

About the role

The Police Officer position is open for individuals currently holding state certification or enrolled in a BLET program. Applicants must have a valid NC Driver's License, Birth Certificate, and complete the necessary forms.

Responsibilities

• Patrol streets in a police car or on foot
• Respond to calls for assistance, complaints, and suspicious activity
• Serve and execute search warrants and warrants for arrest
• Investigate traffic accidents and issues
• Issue traffic citations and direct traffic
• Apprehend and transport criminal suspects
• Prepare and maintain records and reports
• Communicate with the public and provide information
• Attend training classes and perform other related duties

Requirements

• B.L.E.T. Certification or enrolled in B.L.E.T. Certification Program
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License
• Birth Certificate

Qualifications

• Physical ability to perform strenuous physical exertion
• Knowledge of state and federal laws, local ordinances, and police department policies
• Working knowledge of law enforcement principles, practices, methods, and equipment
• Some knowledge of scientific crime detection and criminal identification methods and procedures
• Ability to use firearms and other police equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms
• Ability to present effective court testimony
• Ability to prepare clear and concise activity reports
• Ability to build and maintain cooperative and effective public relations
