About the role
The City of Hamilton Police Department is recruiting for Police Officers. All applicants must complete testing with the National Testing Network (NTN) by the close date, Sunday, September 13, 2026. The NTN exam serves as the civil service exam. Applicants are responsible for scheduling and taking the NTN test prior to the deadline.
If you have taken the NTN test in the past year (since August 1, 2025), you may transfer your passing score to the City of Hamilton via the NTN website. If you previously submitted your exam score to the City of Hamilton for a Police Officer recruitment on or after August 1, 2025 and wish to be considered for this recruitment, email Brittany Chapman at brittany.chapman@hamilton-oh.gov to have your current NTN score resent.
In the event of tied scores, rank will be determined by the date and time the application was received. A passing score is required to proceed to the Physical Fitness Test (PFT).

Benefits
Health Insurance
The City offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage. The medical plan is a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) to help cover eligible healthcare expenses. Coverage begins on the date of hire.

Life Insurance
After six months of employment, employees are eligible for $10,000 coverage under the group life insurance policy. Additional coverage up to the employee's annual salary ($40,000 maximum) may be purchased. Upon retirement, coverage is reduced to $4,000. Premiums are paid by the City.

Deferred Compensation Plan
This plan allows employees to build a financial reserve for retirement using pre-tax, payroll-deducted contributions. Funds are held and invested by the plan's trustees in options selected by the employee. Participation is voluntary.
Retirement Plans
The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and the Police and Fire Disability and Pension Fund (PFDPF) are available to City employees. Participation is required by Ohio law. Both the employee and the City contribute a percentage (pre-tax) into the system. Members do not pay into the Federal Social Security System but do contribute to Medicare.
