Police Officer

About the role

The Green River Police Department seeks to hire entry level patrol officers and experienced lateral hires. The department is committed to serving the community through law enforcement, education, and partnerships with local organizations.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to prevent crime and enforce traffic laws.
• Respond to radio and telephone dispatches, investigate incidents, and prepare reports.
• Assist with traffic control, crime scene investigations, and special assignments.
• Inspect establishments for compliance with laws and intervene in disputes.
• Train in various areas such as DARE, special response teams, and crime prevention.
• Communicate with the public and testify in court.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or HiSet, with specialized law enforcement training.
• Wyoming P.O.S.T. certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Current Wyoming driver’s license.
• Ability to pass POST selection test, comprehensive background investigation, physical exam, drug screening, and driver’s license check.
• Minimum age of 21 years old.
• Knowledge of modern police methods, investigative techniques, and relevant laws.
• Skills in operating firearms, modern office equipment, and vehicles.
• Physical abilities to perform required tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Pass the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) with an aggregate score of at least 12.
• Have prior law enforcement experience.
