ELIGIBILITY / PREFERRED CANDIDATES - Candidates eligible for appointment under the Massachusetts Civil Service (MGL Ch. 31 ?58: age, education) - Certified police officers - Academy-trained candidates - Applicants with an associate degree or higher in criminal justice or a related field (preferred) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Enforce state and local laws and ordinances - Patrol assigned areas by vehicle, motorcycle, foot, or bicycle - Respond to calls for service and emergency situations - Conduct investigations and interviews; prepare detailed reports - Make arrests and testify in court when required - Work collaboratively with officers and community partners; build positive community relationships through proactive engagement - Participate in ongoing training and professional development - Perform related duties as assigned SPECIALIZED ASSIGNMENT OPPORTUNITIES Patrol; Traffic Unit; Motor and Bike Units; Community Engagement; School Resource Officer; Accident Reconstruction; Field Training Officer; Detectives; Court Prosecution and Public Records; K9; Evidence; Armorer SCHEDULE Full-time. Operates on a 4/2 rotating schedule (four consecutive workdays followed by two days off). Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Voluntary and mandatory overtime.
