About the role

The Police Officer performs police patrol, investigation, traffic regulation, and related law enforcement activities. Duties include responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, conducting investigations, issuing citations, and enforcing local laws.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment
• Graduated from or planning to attend MCOLES-certified training academy
• Valid State driver's license
• No felony convictions and disqualifying criminal histories
• U.S. citizen
• Able to read and write the English language
• Of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits

Qualifications

• Associates degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field (preferred)
• Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment
• Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations
• Ability to perform work requiring good physical condition
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Pay

$69,201.60 - $93,038.40 depending on qualifications. Lateral pay determined by Police Chief.
