About the role
The position involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls, conducting investigations, and enforcing traffic laws. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with successful completion of the Field Training Program.
Responsibilities
- Effectively perform duties on a routine basis, including responding to calls involving stressful and unpredictable situations.
- Patrol assigned areas via various means, including vehicle, bicycle, ATV, or on foot.
- Use verbal persuasion and employ various techniques to deter and stop criminal activity.
- Conduct surveillance, interview victims, witnesses, and suspects, and collect evidence.
- Detain, search, arrest, and transport potentially violent suspects while applying appropriate levels of force.
- Operate a vehicle at high speeds in pursuit scenarios and manage traffic incidents.
- Protect, serve, and earn the trust of the community through professional conduct and interaction.
- Investigate felonies and misdemeanors, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- Remain abreast of relevant laws and ordinances, and maintain physical fitness for duty.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Successful completion of the Field Training Program.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
- Proficiency with firearms.
- Physical fitness to perform demanding tasks.
Skills
- Working knowledge of federal and state statutes, traffic laws, and local ordinances.
- Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions.
- Quick reaction and calmness in emergency situations.
- Clear and concise writing skills for criminal and civil investigations.
- Mathematical accuracy in computations.
- Ability to operate various office and law enforcement equipment.
