Requirements
- Minimum qualifications include being a Police Academy Graduate, Lateral Police Officer, or meeting certain out-of-state criteria.
- Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Education: Possession of a U.S. high school diploma or GED.
- Certificates: California POST Basic Certificate.
- Licenses: Valid Class "C" California driver's license.
- Physical Condition/Vision: Good physical condition, vision must satisfy POST Medical Standards.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien eligible for citizenship.
- Felony: Record must be free from any felony convictions.
Qualifications
- For Academy Graduate applicants: Provide an Academy Certificate within the last three years with application.
- For Lateral Police Officer applicants: At least 1-year employment as a full-time paid Peace Officer with a POST approved California Law Enforcement agency, and a POST Requalification Certificate if applicable.
- Undergo a preliminary investigation of personal history and background.
