About the role
The mission of Southern University and A&M College, an Historically Black, 1890 land-grant institution, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is to provide a student-focused teaching and learning environment that creates global leadership opportunities for a diverse student population where teaching, research, service, scholarly and creative expectations for students and faculty are achieved through the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs offered at the institution via different instructional modalities and via public service.
Responsibilities
- Enforces local, state and federal laws through foot and mobile patrols.
- Provide crowd control and traffic control.
- Provide emergency services.
- Make arrests and prepare necessary paperwork.
- May serve as an assistant shift supervisor.
- Investigate serious crimes and accidents.
- May testify in court.
- Conducts crime prevention programs.
- Work special assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Necessary Special Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
- Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
- An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
