What You'll Do
As a Police Officer:
- Patrols grounds & buildings on foot & in car;
- Protects lives of consumers/clients, visitors & employees;
- Checks property for open doors, gates, windows, fires or other hazards;
- Prevents crimes & enforces laws, rules & regulations;
- Checks identity of persons on grounds & nature of business;
- Maintains order at events;
- Makes arrests as necessary;
- Monitors traffic conditions & parking facilities to ensure efficient flow of traffic.

Option 1
Option 1: Possession of certificate having successfully completed approved basic peace officer training program.
Option 2
Option 2: Completion of 20 years active duty as peace officer per Section 109.78(D) of Ohio Revised Code; valid driver's license.
Note
Note: Applicant must be able to successfully perform Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Program (OPOTC) Fitness Testing.
Entry Standards for New Recruits
Entry Standards for New Recruits: Applicants must meet the following entry standards:
- Pass the OPOTC Fitness Test;
- Be able to pass a background check;
- Have a valid driver’s license;
- Meet the physical fitness requirements;
- Pass a drug screening;
- Pass a psychological evaluation;
- Pass a polygraph test;
- Pass a medical examination;
- Pass a written exam;
- Pass a physical agility test;
- Pass a mental health assessment;
- Pass a character and fitness interview.
