About the Role

The City of Roseville is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workforce and workplace, valuing the backgrounds and perspectives of colleagues and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Perform code enforcement duties, preferably within a Police Department context.

Requirements

  • Two years of increasingly responsible experience in code enforcement, preferably within a Police Department.
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or a higher-level degree.
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license by the date of appointment.
  • Clearance of a comprehensive Police Department (PD) background check.

Possession of a CACE (California Association of Code Enforcement) certification is highly desirable.

Selection Process

All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination, evaluating experience and education. Scores determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List. Supplemental questions may be used for interview and selection decisions.

Final appointment is contingent upon:

  • Verification of past employment references.
  • Passing a City-paid fingerprint check.
  • Pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check (as applicable).

Some positions require clearance of a comprehensive Police Department background check within 12 months of appointment. Candidates appointed prior to clearance may have limited IT system access until PD clearance is received. Failure to clear the PD background check will result in release from City service without appeal rights.

Education Verification

The City of Roseville defines an "accredited college or university" as an institution listed on the U.S. Department of Education Database of Accredited Post-Secondary Institutions and Programs. For foreign degrees:

  • Evaluation may be conducted by a U.S. accredited institution or a foreign credential evaluation service (e.g., NACES or AICE).
  • A foreign degree credential equivalency certificate from an approved agency must be provided if offered a position.
