Code Enforcement Officer

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve building plans and permits according to local building codes and regulations.
• Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.
• Enforce zoning laws and regulations to ensure properties are developed in accordance with approved plans.
• Provide technical guidance to developers and contractors on building code requirements and best practices.
• Respond to public inquiries regarding building codes and zoning regulations.
• Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations and ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection or code enforcement.
• Knowledge of local building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Experience working with local government agencies and community stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Skills

• Proficient in using building inspection software.
• Knowledge of construction materials and methods.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Pay

Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
