Polar Guillotine Cutter Operator
About the role
K & W Finishing, Inc., a print-finishing (bindery) company located in Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking an experienced cutter operator to join its team. The successful candidate will set up and operate Heidelberg Polar Paper Cutters and may also operate one or more additional pieces of equipment, including Stahl Folder, Bobst Gluer, Moll Gluer, Heidelberg Saddle Stitcher, Heidelberg Cylinder Press (Die-Cut), Kluge, Brausse, Magestic, Bobst, Windmill, or small machines such as hi-die, round-corner, shrink-wrap, and drill.
Candidates must be knowledgeable about many facets of print-finishing to understand how each job will need to be set up and cut for folders, stitchers, and other equipment.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (day shift), with overtime as available or necessary.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Heidelberg Polar Paper Cutters and other bindery equipment.
- Make decisions on the best way to produce a quality finished piece.
- Read, interpret, and understand instructions, and communicate effectively in English.
- Understand job requirements and communicate them clearly to others.
- Maintain the quality standards expected by customers.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Accept and apply constructive criticism to improve performance.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- 5 years of experience in the printing industry.
- Ability to work in an environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, tools, or machinery, which may pose a risk of bodily injury.
