Podiatrist

Duties

Located in the Rogue Valley - White City, this position offers easy access to the Metro area of Medford while maintaining proximity to natural beauty. White City is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Oregon, approximately nine miles north of Medford and 34 miles north of the California border. The area offers scenic drives to Crater Lake, Oregon’s only National Park, and Lake of the Woods, a mountain resort.

• Utilizes standard medical evaluation procedures to formulate a differential diagnosis and develop a Podiatry treatment plan.
• Provides group Podiatry as determined.
• Documents and codes information related to patient care in the VA's electronic health care record on a timely basis following VHA policies.
• iMed consent shall be completed prior to Podiatry treatment where any invasive procedure occurs.
• Communicates with other health care providers as appropriate.
• Maintains up-to-date VHA and professional trainings.
• Attends required meetings.
• Reviews referrals, screens for appropriateness of care, and directs Veterans to other services when necessary.
• Is the subject matter expert on Podiatry services and provides guidance when requested regarding purchased care.
• Solves issues in the delivery of Podiatry.
• Participates in teaching principles of Podiatry to staff, students, and residents, including journal clubs, grand rounds, and in-service trainings.
• Provides assistance as needed for issues or problems that arise in relation to the Podiatry practice and serves as a preceptor to new staff or less experienced staff and students.
• Completes medical and surgical management of podiatric pathology.
• Prescribes pharmaceuticals and therapeutic devices (orthotics, prosthetic devices, plaster casts, immobilization devices, etc.).

Requirements

Experience with Veteran care, diabetic foot care, board certification preferred, and wound care are preferred. Work schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with authorized compressed/flexible hours at supervisor's discretion and telework not available. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), but former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply for the incentive.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of complex issues surrounding the delivery of care as it relates to Podiatry services, including evidence-based and cost-effectiveness. They should also possess experience with Veteran care, diabetic foot care, board certification, and wound care.

Skills

The successful candidate should be knowledgeable in incorporating various training techniques taught within Podiatry and applying safe and effective advanced Podiatry techniques. They should also be able to educate patients on health lifestyle changes, including nutrition, exercise, sleeping habits, stress management, and mind-body techniques.

Benefits

The VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package, which includes the EDRP for eligible candidates. The EDRP provides a student loan payment reimbursement program, with award amounts ranging from $200,000 and eligibility periods of one to five years, determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

The pay for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.

The work schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with authorized compressed/flexible hours at supervisor's discretion and telework not available.
