About the Role

Join SEAKR Engineering, a leading-edge provider of advanced electronics for space applications, pushing the boundaries of technology on a mission to change the world for better from space. We are seeking an Electronics Assembly Technician to solder components to PCBs following NASA and IPC standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts into repetitive and non-complex units or subassemblies using hand tools and soldering iron.
  • Operate pick and place machines and perform component preparation operations.
  • Prepare components (tinning, resistor measurements, verify kit), wire attachment, component staking, or masking for conformal coating following engineering drawings and manufacturing travelers.
  • Use voltmeters, scales, holding fixtures, bench tools, automated and manual soldering equipment, and special fixtures.
  • Perform assembly operations under a stereo microscope.
  • Follow written/oral instructions from process engineers, manufacturing engineers, and supervisors.
  • Prepare and assemble PC boards, perform component preparation, dispense/apply adhesives, and use various tools for mechanical assembly.
  • Inspect work to ensure it meets all requirements and complies with department and corporate policies (Safety, Security, ESD).
  • Inspect product at various stages of the process and interpret detailed work instructions and assembly drawings.
  • Work with and learn from experienced technicians in complex mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in-process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication.
  • Use precision measurement tools to ensure components meet specified tolerances while adhering to shop safety requirements, including PPE.
  • Follow 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols.
  • Lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals.

Requirements

  • Active or past solder certifications to IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum) required; must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment if not already certified.
  • At least 2 years of experience in electronics assembly.
  • At least 1 year of experience in SMT/Pick and Place.
  • Proficiency with precision mechanical tools (calibrated torque wrenches, calipers) and hand-soldering equipment under a microscope for extended periods.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • US Citizenship required.

Pay

Base pay range is $26–28/hour, depending on qualifications.

Schedule

Hours are 6:00 AM–3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with alternating Fridays off (9/80 schedule).
