Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other instructors in preparing, administering, and grading examinations for the course.
- Participate in the preparation of final evaluations for the course.
- Ensure class attendance and grades are recorded and submitted.
- Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure program quality.
- Plan and implement orientation of new faculty in both theory and clinical facilities for courses.
- Utilize principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of adult learners.
- Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction.
- Demonstrate or acquire skills for utilizing online activities to enhance course content during interactive teaching and learning.
- Maintain student records of attendance, skills check-off forms, and assist with program data collection.
- Submit required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
- Stay current with new technologies and safety regulations.
- Participate in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program.
- Attend faculty meetings.
- Plan and supervise student clinical experiences in assigned healthcare facilities.
- Evaluate student performance in relation to clinical learning outcomes in accordance with policies and procedures established by Unitek Learning and the Department of Nursing.
- Provide immediate feedback on clinical performance or specific events after observation.
- Maintain student records of clinical attendance, skills check-off forms, and assist with program data collection.
- Ensure clinical assignments meet both student and facility needs.
- Determine the best methods to observe, instruct, and evaluate students.
- Verify that clinical facilities meet all health and safety requirements for Unitek Learning students.
- Provide students with ongoing communication through scheduled office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods.
- Participate in student advising activities.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current licensure in the state where you are applying to teach.
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
- BSN required; Master’s in Nursing preferred or must enroll in an MSN program within 5 years of start.
- Able to meet faculty requirements set by the Board of Nursing.
- Experience demonstrating current knowledge of nursing practice.
- Ability to mentor students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Broad knowledge of nursing sciences.
- Experience handling day-to-day operations in the nursing lab.
- Proficient, strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Current knowledge/experience in a clinical setting.
- Must obtain ATI (Assessment Technology Institute) Certification within 30 days of hire (offered by Unitek).
- Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.
