About the role
We are seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) Instructor for our Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs. This role involves collaboration with other instructors, strategic planning, and hands-on teaching in both classroom and clinical settings.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other instructors in preparing, administering, and grading examinations.
- Participate in the preparation of final evaluations for the course.
- Ensure class attendance records and grades are kept and submitted.
- Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to maintain program quality.
- Plan and implement orientation for new faculty in theory and clinical facilities.
- Utilize adult learning principles in teaching.
- Improve quality of instruction continuously.
- Develop skills for using online activities to enhance course content during interactive teaching and learning.
- Maintain student records, including attendance, skills check-off forms, and program data collection.
- Submit required program reports and forms to the Director in a timely manner.
- Stay current with new technologies and safety regulations.
- Participate in committee activities supporting the mission and function of the nursing program.
- Attend faculty meetings.
- Plan and supervise student clinical experiences in assigned healthcare facilities.
- Evaluate student performance in relation to clinical learning outcomes per Unitek Learning policies.
- Provide immediate feedback on clinical performance after observation.
- Ensure clinical assignments meet both student and facility needs.
- Determine the best methods to observe, instruct, and evaluate students.
- Verify that clinical facilities meet health and safety requirements for student attendance.
- Provide ongoing communication access to students through office hours, electronic communication, and other methods.
- Participate in student advising activities.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in the state where you are applying to teach.
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
- BSN required; Master’s in Nursing preferred or must enroll in an MSN program within 5 years of hire.
- Must meet faculty requirements set by the Board of Nursing.
- Obtain ATI (Assessment Technology Institute) Certification within 30 days of hire (offered by Unitek).
- Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.
Qualifications
- Current knowledge of nursing practice.
- Ability to mentor students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Broad knowledge of nursing sciences.
- Experience handling day-to-day operations in the nursing lab.
- Proficient, strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Current experience in a clinical setting.
