About the role
The PMRC Forestry Technician II position involves assisting the Plantation Management Research Cooperative (PMRC) field crew with various field work and data collection tasks. This includes measuring characteristics of pine and hardwood trees in the field, applying fertilizer to pine research studies, and installing research plots. Extensive travel is required to visit research installations.
Responsibilities
- Collect accurate data (measurements) on pine research plots across the 10 state southern region. (70%)
- Apply fertilizer to pine research studies across the 10 state southern region. (20%)
- Maintain forestry equipment and vehicles. (10%)
Requirements
- High school diploma; experience in forest measurements preferred.
- Understanding of forestry measurements and tools.
- This position requires working in extreme temperatures and lifting fifty-pound bags of fertilizer repeatedly.
