Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership of the Psychiatry Residency Program.
  • Design and conduct the program in a fashion consistent with the needs of the community, the mission of the Sponsoring Institution, and the mission of the program.
  • Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency domains.
  • Submit accurate and complete information required and requested by the Designated Institutional Official, Graduate Medical Education Committee and ACGME.
  • Develop and maintain the overall curriculum, rotation schedules, and didactic schedule.
  • Oversee resident evaluation, promotion, advising, wellness initiatives, and semiannual performance reviews.
  • Recruit new residents through institutional and specialty-specific workflows, such as the National Resident Match Program (NRMP).
  • Recruit, evaluate, and support faculty; oversee faculty development and participation in scholarly activity.
  • Maintain compliance with all ACGME and institutional policies, including but not limited to work hours, supervision, documentation, and reporting.
  • Submit required accreditation materials, ADS updates, and program evaluations.
  • Manage resources and collaborate with institutional leadership to ensure effective and fiscally responsible program operations.
  • Promote a culture of scholarship, including participation in teaching, research, and presentations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Clinical Psychiatrist Responsibilities

  • Provide direct psychiatric care across Inpatient behavioral health services, Outpatient psychiatric services, and Behavioral health consultation-liaison services for ED and medical patients.
  • Collaborate with Macon Medical clinical teams to support behavioral health assessments, treatment planning, and continuity of care.
  • Supervise and provide clinical oversight for: Psychiatry residents and system Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and care coordination activities.
  • Support resident and APP clinical education through bedside teaching, case review, and supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable clinical, regulatory, and documentation standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current board certification in Psychiatry by an applicable ABMS or AOA board.
  • Unrestricted medical license and eligibility for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges in Georgia.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of documented experience in administration and teaching, with preference for experience in Graduate Medical Education.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, educate, and mentor residents and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
