About the Role
Supervise, train, and inspect the performance of assigned Room Attendants, Turndown Attendants, Housepersons, Lobby Attendants, and Linen Runners, ensuring that all procedures are completed to the hotel's standards. Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.
Responsibilities
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended.
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, regardless of business level.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times; resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
- Maintain complete knowledge of hotel services, guest room layouts, amenities, and housekeeping services.
- Verify room status on A.M. report; report and prioritize discrepant or checkout rooms.
- Ensure assigned staff has reported to work; document late or absent employees and coordinate breaks.
- Review and prioritize assignments; update room-cleaning lists as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of radios and ensure security of keys.
- Inspect supply levels of floor closets and assign personnel to rectify deficiencies.
- Check Room Attendants' carts for proper supplies, neatness, and mechanical issues.
- Inspect rooms cleaned by assigned Room Attendants using a designated checklist; relay deficiencies for correction.
- Update room status via guest room phone after approving cleanliness and condition.
- Check vacant and DND rooms; verify and update status of discrepant rooms throughout the shift.
- Mark dirty sheets in randomly selected rooms and follow up to ensure sheets are changed; counsel Room Attendants on discrepancies.
- Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Housekeeping Administrative Assistant; contact Engineering for urgent repairs.
- Conduct staff training as assigned; provide performance feedback to the manager.
- Report disciplinary problems to the manager and participate in colleague counseling.
- Document pertinent information in the department log book.
- Complete all paperwork and closing duties; review status of assignments with the manager or oncoming supervisor.
- Assist in other areas of Housekeeping as needed.
Requirements
- High school graduate; some college preferred.
- 3 years of experience as a Room Attendant.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements, and use of equipment.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
- Basic English required; fluency in English (verbal and non-verbal) preferred.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Supervisory experience.
- Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
- Previous guest relations training.
