About the role
We’re looking for a Public Area Attendant to join our team. You’ll play an essential role in delivering exceptional guest experiences, supporting our culinary and hospitality teams, and ensuring smooth daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Complete all tasks on the Public Area Attendant Checklist daily.
- Stock caddies/carts with required cleaning supplies, linen, amenities, and equipment.
- Maintain guest awareness: greet guests, use names when known, move carts to allow passage, and turn off vacuum cleaners when guests are present.
- Empty and recycle trash; clean stairwells, windows, furniture, lighting, fixtures, drapes, vents, and plants.
- Sweep and mop floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
- Clean and stock public restrooms, fitness center, employee locker rooms, offices, guest and service elevators, and drinking fountains.
- Unload and store unused items from caddies/carts; store equipment correctly.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with all staff; provide recognition to coworkers and leadership.
- Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for staff and guests.
- Be knowledgeable of property facilities, services, hours, events, and amenities to assist guests proactively.
- Promote property outlets to guests; assist with directions or escort guests to locations when possible.
- Resolve guest complaints using property procedures.
- Foster a positive environment where employees can maximize their potential.
- Listen to feedback from guests, employees, and managers.
- Participate in daily pre-shift meetings; greet all guests warmly and offer assistance throughout the property.
- Perform duties in accordance with company standards, policies, and applicable laws.
- Complete additional duties as requested by department managers and supervisors.
- Communicate with supervisors to ensure duties meet standards; coordinate with other departments as needed.
- Present a professional image to employees, guests, clients, owners, and investors.
- Maintain confidentiality of guests, employees, and company information.
Requirements
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to comprehend and use basic written and spoken language to communicate information and ideas.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions.
- Ability to perform basic numerical operations (counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing).
- Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers and staff, demonstrating patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Basic English proficiency required; additional languages preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to move throughout the property (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods.
- Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hands, and wrists.
- Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
- Ability to obtain impressions through the eyes; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work with hands above shoulders.
- Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds / 25 kilograms.
- Ability to turn or twist body parts in a circular motion.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environments.
