About the role

The Gwen is a hotel located in downtown Chicago, inspired by the city's rich history in the 1930s. It offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern luxury, aiming to cater to both current and future generations of travelers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, ensuring not to overprepare estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per HEI Hotels and Resorts standards, maintaining proper temperatures for perishables.
• Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages and assist in correcting food cost problems, controlling waste, loss, and usage according to HEI standards.
• Operate, maintain, and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Hotel experience preferred.
• Finger/hand dexterity to operate food machinery with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Able to grasp, lift, and carry goods weighing up to 100 lbs. on a continuous schedule with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
