About the role
B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group operates a portfolio of more than 20 business-class hotels with brands from IHG, Marriott International, Hilton, and Best Western, alongside The Watermark Hotel, The Hay-Adams Hotel, and Perch Putt. The Courtyard by Marriott Tysons McLean is seeking a Breakfast Attendant/Barista to join a team of over 1,000 hospitality professionals in a supportive environment that values career growth and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Guest Service: Anticipates and responds to guests in a friendly, positive, and timely manner; provides high-quality service and establishes rapport; follows the company’s guest service recovery program and responds to feedback to maximize satisfaction scores.
- Serving Duties: Takes orders accurately, uses proper serving techniques, and is knowledgeable about specials and promotions; up-sells menu items to maximize revenue; adheres to health regulations and cash handling/POS procedures.
- Side Work: Completes required cleaning of restaurant, server stations, coffee stations, and coolers; vacuums, removes trash, and stocks supplies.
- Cost Control: Follows cash handling and financial transaction procedures; uses equipment properly and adheres to cost controls to reduce expenses and waste.
- Safety: Maintains a clean and safe work area in accordance with company, local, state, and federal regulations; follows incident procedures and hotel emergency protocols.
- Self/Workload Management: Plans, organizes, and prioritizes duties to meet volume requirements; adheres to attendance, grooming, and department procedures; attends required meetings.
- Teamwork: Takes service orders, assists staff, and collaborates across departments to meet guest needs; completes duties within or outside normal responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated exemplary customer service, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive environment.
- Ability to speak, understand, and write English to meet guests’ needs.
- Basic knowledge of bar operations, including beverage service, responsible alcohol handling, and compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly; capable of continuous walking, standing, carrying, and lifting throughout the shift.
