About the Role

Plumbing Shop Assistant – Fond du Lac, WI. Ahern, a family‑owned mechanical and fire‑protection contractor with over 145 years of history, is seeking a motivated individual to join its team.

Responsibilities

• Ship and receive product, stage materials, select materials, and pick up parts.
• Work in a fast‑paced construction environment, both indoors and outdoors.
• Follow safety regulations and use required personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, hand, knee, and foot protection).
• Collaborate with team members and operate independently as needed.
• Adhere to a collective bargaining agreement (Local 400).

Requirements

• At least 18 years old and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lb and to stand, bend, crouch, and climb throughout the shift.
• Mechanical background with a good working and learning attitude.
• Self‑starter who works well in a team and can handle a loud, fast‑paced environment.
• Positive attitude, strong problem‑solving skills, and commitment to safety.
• Basic computer skills.
• Prior experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse settings is a plus.
• Experience with plumbing components preferred but not required.
• Forklift experience is a plus.

Schedule

Full‑time, first‑shift: four 10‑hour days, Monday‑Thursday, 5 a.m. – 3 p.m., with overtime on Fridays as needed.
