About the Role
Plans and coordinates activities concerned with installing equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties.
Responsibilities
- Review service schedules, with assistance from department manager to maintain schedules in order to ensure timely completion of service calls.
- Coordinate project material and equipment needs, and deliveries in order to maintain job productivity and projected completion schedules.
- Analyze systems and review findings to determine source of problem, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
- Double-check work to prevent callbacks.
- Provide on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Complete and forward service tickets in a legible, comprehensive fashion.
- Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided.
- Respond to service calls in a timely fashion, including after hours if assigned to provide emergency services.
- Attend schools and seminars to maintain and advance technical knowledge.
- Comply with company policies and procedures, especially safety rules.
Requirements
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability of statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance.
- Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Talk or hear.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
The employee is frequently exposed to:
- Moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
- High, precarious places and outside weather conditions (wet, humid, cold, or hot environments).
- Vibration.
