About the role
Abacus is currently seeking a Plumbing Generator Install and Service Technician to join our family-like culture, who are dedicated to delivering the best customer service experience every day. As a Pluming Generator Install and Service Technician, you will perform troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and inspections on residential whole-home standby generator systems.
This role includes diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, and gas-related issues, including natural gas and propane fuel supply systems, to ensure safe and reliable operation for our customers. Responsibilities
- Install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair residential gas and propane piping systems serving standby generators
- Perform gas pressure testing, leak detection, and system inspections to ensure compliance with applicable codes and safety standards
- Size and verify as piping systems to support proper generator operation and manufacturer requirements
- Coordinate electrical and gas system repairs to ensure complete generator functionality
- Educate homeowners on generator operation, maintenance requirements, and gas supply considerations
- Respond to emergency service calls and resolve generator issues in a timely and efficient manner to minimize downtime for clients
- Collaborate with clients, dispatch, managers, and other team members to understand service requirements, provide technical support, and ensure customer satisfaction
- Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in generator maintenance and repair
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to promote a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and handling of tools, equipment, and materials
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Additional technical certifications or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred
- Tradesman or journeyman license required
- Experience working with residential natural gas and propane piping systems
- Working knowledge of gas piping installation methods, pressure testing, and leak detection procedures
- Ability to diagnose fuel delivery issues affecting generator performance
- Understanding of applicable fuel gas codes and safety requirements
