Plumbing Engineer/ Designer

About the role

The Plumbing Designer/Engineer at Salas O’Brien focuses on designing building-related projects such as hotels, apartment buildings, retail/commercial spaces, and educational facilities. Projects are completed using Revit and AutoCAD software.

Responsibilities

• Design domestic water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, natural gas, and medical gas systems for various facility types
• Produce plumbing design drawings using Revit software
• Conduct field investigations to assess existing conditions and gather project data
• Ensure quality control, scheduling, and delivery of plumbing design documents
• Cook up and communicate effectively with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams
• Perform pipe sizing, pressure loss calculations, equipment selection, and code compliance analysis

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience coordinating design with multiple disciplines and stakeholders
• 3 to 5 years of experience in plumbing design and construction
• Solid understanding of plumbing systems layout, fixture selection, and equipment specifications
• Comfortable performing flow calculations, pipe routing, and fixture unit counts
• Familiarity with applicable plumbing codes (IPC, UPC), accessibility guidelines, and water/energy efficiency standards
• Experience working on healthcare, education, hospitality, or commercial projects

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for design and specifications
• Proficiency in Revit
• Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and contractors
