About the role

We design plumbing systems for multifamily and mixed-use buildings, including high-rise apartments, garden-style communities, student housing, luxury multifamily, and mixed-use buildings. Projects range from mid-rise and high-rise mixed-use towers to garden-style communities, including podium and garage-wrap construction.

Responsibilities

  • Design domestic water, storm drainage, sanitary waste and vent, and natural gas distribution systems
  • Size, select, schedule, and specify plumbing components including fixtures, specialties, and equipment
  • Support fire protection design (including pumps, standpipes, and specialty systems)
  • Produce clear, coordinated documentation for new construction and renovations
  • Lead plumbing design for a range of building types, including:
    • High-rise and mid-rise apartments (including towers requiring complex riser strategies)
    • Garden-style and low-rise communities with repeatable unit stacks and phased construction
    • Student housing with high fixture density and durability-focused specifications
    • Luxury multifamily with extensive amenity areas (pools, fitness, club rooms, rooftop/terrace programs, etc.)
    • Mixed-use buildings that combine residential with retail/restaurant and other street-level uses
    • Podium and garage-wrap configurations that add coordination complexity across levels and occupancies
  • Collaborate in a technology-driven BIM environment, supporting projects through construction
  • Contribute to practical, code-aligned solutions for tight shafts, repetitive stacks, equipment room constraints, and fast schedules
  • Support construction administration including submittal reviews, RFI responses, field observations, and documentation updates
  • Travel for job site visits and building surveys as required

Requirements

  • Strong working proficiency in Revit (plumbing design within a BIM workflow)
  • Solid understanding of plumbing codes and how systems interact in dense, multidisciplinary projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience, if applicable)
  • AutoCAD proficiency (Revit is primary; AutoCAD may be used for specific deliverables)

Preferred

  • EIT or P.E. license (or clear path toward licensure)
  • ASPE CPD certification
