Roles & Responsibilities
- Design plumbing and fire protection systems based on project requirements and applicable engineering standards.
- Perform engineering calculations for plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Prepare technical specifications, engineering documentation, and construction drawings.
- Develop and review AutoCAD and Revit drawings utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, architects, and other engineering disciplines throughout project execution.
- Review project drawings to ensure technical accuracy, quality standards, and client requirements are met.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local plumbing, fire protection, and building codes.
- Conduct site surveys and field investigations as required.
- Attend pre bid meetings and provide construction administration and field support.
- Afford assistance in resolving design and construction related issues during project execution.
- Maintain project schedules while managing multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering documentation.
- Support sustainable building initiatives and green building design practices when applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection system design.
- Experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial, healthcare, laboratory, institutional, or industrial projects.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the FE exam with the intention of obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Strong understanding of local, state, and national building and fire protection codes.
- Experience using AutoCAD for engineering design.
- Strong communication, technical writing, and documentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Revit.
- Experience working with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles.
- Familiarity with the USGBC LEED Rating System and green building standards.
- Previous experience supporting construction administration and field services.
