Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer
About the role
BR+A Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer for our Los Angeles, CA office. This role will be responsible for designing Fire Protection and Plumbing systems for a variety of projects and other tasks such as performing field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects, coordinating with other disciplines, overseeing deliverables to and from clients, and developing hydraulic calculations for systems.
Responsibilities
- Designing Fire Protection and Plumbing systems for Healthcare, Higher Education, and Laboratory projects
- Proficient in Auto CAD and Revit
- Familiar with specification writing
- Good understanding of engineering concepts, design, and spatial requirements
- Able to think three-dimensionally
- Thorough knowledge of CA plumbing code, model codes and NFPA
- Knowledge of Fire Protection systems including wet, dry and specialty systems
- Understanding work planning and managing the design process to the available hours in the work plan
- Capable of meeting and working with clients, owners, and contractors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Taking ownership of assignments, working both independently and as part of the project team
- A positive attitude, results-driven and team-oriented
- Able to manage time to meet deadlines
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
- EIT license required
- PE and CPD licenses preferred
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in designing Plumbing and Fire Protection for Healthcare, Higher Education, and Laboratory projects

Pay
Salary Range for 8-10 years of experience: $110,000. – 135,000 annually.
