Plumber, Physical Plant (Wilsonville)
About the role
The plumber coordinates, instructs, and trains skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled AIC (Adult in Custody) workers in the operation, maintenance, and repair of physical plant systems, equipment, and building structures within a correctional institution. The plumber also performs journey-level trade work.
Responsibilities
- Skilled in installing and replacing pipes, valves, drains, basins, tubs, faucets, lavatories, sinks, hydrants, water heaters, dishwashers, and other plumbing fixtures and equipment.
- Experienced in diagnosing and repairing pipe breaks, leaks, clogged drains, water pumps, water heaters, and other plumbing system issues.
- Knowledgeable in cleaning, opening, maintaining, and troubleshooting drains, sewer lines, and related plumbing systems.
- Ability to install, maintain, and repair steam and gas systems while following applicable safety procedures and requirements.
- Experienced in maintaining EVAC systems and headworks, including pumps, vaults, superceptors, muffin monsters, tanks, floats, and grit disposal equipment.
- Capable of performing monthly, quarterly, and annual EVAC system testing, maintenance, documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Skilled in instructing and training workers on the safe and efficient use of plumbing tools, equipment, techniques, and procedures.
- Knowledgeable in maintaining a safe and secure work environment, including proper control of keys, tools, equipment, and contraband to help prevent escapes.
- Experienced in assisting with the supervision and direction of workers, responding appropriately to incidents, and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Demonstrates responsibility, integrity, teamwork, respect for others, adaptability to constructive change, and consistent attendance.
Qualifications

Schedule
This position is located inside the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. The position requires working in a variety of new and older buildings, including multiple floors, towers, walls, service tunnels, pipe and electrical chases, and tiered AIC housing, requiring frequent walking, stair use, and travel long distances throughout the facility; work may involve poor ventilation, high temperatures, limited lighting, uneven ground, rain, standing water, snow, ice, and other inclement weather conditions, as well as potential exposure to contaminants, sewer systems, storm drains, hot pipes, steam, boilers, boiler chemicals, asbestos, and lead-based paint.
Requirements for Employment
- Pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
