Responsibilities

• Plumbing & Service Technician – handling drains and plumbing of all kinds, including educating and providing potential clients with choices and options.
• Removes roots, debris, and other refuse from clogged sewer lines and drains using a portable electric sewer cleaning machine.
• Repairs breaks in underground piping; positions or disassembles sewer trap machine at sewer or drain outlet.
• Removes drain cover using a wrench.
• Installs rotary knives on flexible cable, mounted on a reel of the machine, according to the diameter of pipe being cleaned.
• Observes residue for evidence of mud, indicating a broken sewer line.
• Measures distance from sewer opening to suspected break using a plumber’s snake, tape line, or by estimating the position of the cutting head within the sewer.
• Removes and replaces broken tile sections or pipe, using caulking compound and cement to form a watertight joint.
• Replaces dull knives and performs repairs on the machine using personal hand tools.
• Estimates cost of service to the customer.
• Always maintains a safe work area according to company policy.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of local plumbing codes and ability to apply them in a practical manner on each job.
• Ability to read and write English well enough to read and prepare invoices, time sheets, and proposals.
• Capability to apply sound business judgment to all decisions.
