About the role
The Plumber Maintenance Technician position at Samaritans Purse involves installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing plumbing systems in residential and commercial settings. This role requires strong technical knowledge of plumbing codes, piping systems, and fixtures. Additionally, you will assist the Facilities team with building and grounds maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
- Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on plumbing systems in residential and commercial plumbing facilities
- Communicate directly with the Maintenance Manager on repairs, estimates, and maintenance recommendations
- Install, repair, and service water heaters, toilets, sinks, garbage disposals, faucets, appliances, commercial-grade fixtures and specialized plumbing equipment
- Perform drain cleaning and sewer line repairs
- Diagnose and troubleshoot leaks, clogs, low water pressure, and fixture malfunctions
- Work with large-scale piping systems, boilers, pumps, water supply, and waste systems
- Coordinate with contractors, electricians, HVAC technicians, and project managers
- Review daily work lists with the Maintenance Manager at the end of each workday and provide routine communications throughout the day
- Develop and improve skills in all aspects of plumbing through participation in approved training sessions
- Maintain a safe work environment. Perform all work in a safe manner and follow all associated safety guidelines
Requirements
- Preferred: Valid Journeyman Plumber License
- High school diploma or GED; and 5+ years of experience with residential and commercial plumbing services
- North Carolina CDL to be obtained within 3-6 months after hire date, if not already obtained
- Thorough knowledge of plumbing codes, and use of plumbing tools and equipment
- Knowledge of backflow prevention systems, and experience with soldering, pipefitting, gas lines, and hydro-jetting
- Ability to solve unusual and common work problems, advise on technical matters, and serve as a resource on the subject for others in the organization
